Since childhood, she had followed her interests and personal studies in non-religious spirituality and medicine and, in late 1988, she met Chögyal Namkhai Norbu in a retreat setting in Marcevol, France. Soon after, in 1991, she decided to move to Italy, to the Amiata region in Tuscany, the main seat of the Dzogchen Community under the guidance of Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, where she continued to follow her artwork and studies of the Dzogchen Teachings. When Prof. Namkhai Norbu started to teach the particular method of the Vajra Dance in 1991, he authorized Prima Mai as the first Vajra Dance Teacher and she accompanied him in his worldwide travels during the early Nineties, during which Rinpoche held retreats on Dzogchen Teachings with Prima Mai assisting by teaching the Vajra Dance. Since 1992 Prima Mai, being fluent in German, English, Spanish, Italian and little french languages, has been traveling intensively, holding courses and other various activities related to developing the Vajra Dance and, since 1996, she has also held Teacher Training courses and supervision courses to help create more local Vajra Dance instructors due to the growing interest in this method around the globe.
